Your problem, as reader, consists in finding out these key ideas even in the book numbering more of 500 pages, and to find their application to your concrete situation.Preface and the list of heads, and also short summaries which place often in the beginning or in the end of the book, will help you with it. You can get a grasp attentively of the text only in that case, so far as concerns something important for you. Thus, you will manage to take a lot of advantage from the book for rather short time.
By means of this method you can sharply lift quality of your reading and simultaneously increase quantity of books with which you have familiarised. As the increasing number of books will appear on your desk, you all will be guided is better in the available literature. Instead of feeling of trouble concerning that you and "have not reached" reading of the serious literature, you will have a sensation of confidence that a number of books which you have not read, for you does not represent interest and do not deserve your attention.
On the other hand, constant dialogue with the literature will promote that such books which will demand careful studying will get to you and will deserve several hours of your attentive acquaintance.
Probably that during a life you have collected the whole library consisting of books which have especially drawn your attention. Once you attentively studied them, but in due course you, possibly, have forgotten much of them.
