Why Do You Need to Use PNG File Format in Your Website Creation?
The advantages of using PNG image format in website designing over other image formats ;for instance, GIF and JPEG; the file type helps to make good and efficient web graphics that will entice your consumersThe PNG file type was introduced quite a while back; it was put forth for consumers in 1995/96 to meet the deficiencies of the traditional GIF file type. However, it did not make an impression because the the browsers of the time were not designed to support the state of the art attributes of PNG so website designers and creators were forced to use it stingily. One of the major hindrances faced by the format was Microsoft's Internet Explorer which was by far the most famous browsers of the time; IE had little or no place for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be used in the most restricted way. But, things went through a change after the availability of IE7; this latest offering from Microsoft has proved immensely useful in increasing increasing the usability of PNGs. So here is why at three reasons why PNG is one of the most useful image formats in the market today:
You can get images that can be superimposed due to their transparency or a feature called alpha transparency: When you analyze the features of GIF and PNG, it will become apparent that A definitive difference in the two formats is that you can only save a particular color in a transparent format through GIF which means that the color can be used regardless of it being opaque or transparent with just transparency in between with the use of PNG, you get a serious benefit; because the format supports semi transparent pixels. This simply means that you can save a PNG picture with a soft drop shadow and then fuse it with a background that suits your taste. Through this feature you will be able to use an image as a background with gradient or a water mark. The file type lets you incorporate the slow fading of hues from fully opaque to transparent, and hence you will be able to view the webpage below
They look spectacular: Apart from the fact, that you get amazing flexibility wit PNG images; there are numerous other benefits to incorporating this format. For example, when you use a JPEG image, you lose some of the data from the original file each time you save the file, so eventually, you will be able to see a conspicuous downgrade in the quality of the media. Even though, this issue has been resolved in GIF and you can store the files without compromising any data, GIF has a highly restrictive 256 color palette, which makes it quite futile if you want to save a picture. However, with PNG, you can get the perfect benefits of the two file types; you will have access to a full color display similar to JPEG format and it also provides managed color palette a la GIF files. At the same time the compression of the picture is sans loss so the image stays put even if you save the file several times.
PNG allows for self optimization: A major concern that web designers need to handle very often is the fact that the contrast and the brightness of the monitor has to be adjusted to see the images properly; the issue comes into the picture due to the difference in the Gamma setting used for the different monitors. Gamma is a method used to distribute the luminance across the monitor display. However, different operating systems use distinct Gamma settings. Hence, an image that is color corrected to suit Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Here again, in this case the versatile PNG image type can prove useful, in PNG, you can save the images with a built in Gamma correction so regardless of the operating system; the Gamma settings will be realigned to show a picture with the perfect ratios of contrast as well as brightness.
