How to create an attractive web-site?
So, you want to make useful, beautiful and convenient site. What need? What factors influence the popularity of web-site? What better place to start creating your own site? And what mistakes can lie in wait on this path?I tried to identify the main causes, which, in my personal opinion, affect the popularity of a site:
* The content or content - is one of the most important components. If the site is no useful information designed to appeal to a certain circle of people, we can raise the question of necessity of existence of the site itself. Remember how many useful pages you have seen in recent times compared with the total number of places you've visited? * Design - the second most important component of good site. Depends on design, how attractive would be pages, ie ultimately, how many people will want to go further and look at your site. After all, if you liked the design, then you surely tell their friends about it. Do not forget, that they meet some of their jackets.
In order to make a good site, do not even have to use graphics. There are useful sites with minimal graphics (or even without it) and lots of useless hammered megabyte pictures. For web-site, as indeed, and for other design projects, it is very important style of the site, giving his own identity and recognition. The conclusion - pages to optimize for the smallest of size (of course within reason). Let's calculate the maximum allowable average WEB-pages.
Taking into consideration the fact that the overwhelming number of people (and small organizations) have access to the Internet through a switched connection, ie by phone (and, moreover, important fact - for the time payment) and the average access speed of the modem in Russia is 14400 bits / c, you can calculate the time required for pumping one kilobyte (without taking into account the fact that most people hold open at 2-3 or more copies of the browser - in this case, simply divide the average speed of access to the number of open browsers).
Consequently, the average pumping rate is equal to 14400 bps / 8 = 1800 bytes / s - this is in the ideal case, is actually slightly less due to retransmission erroneously received blocks. Therefore, we take the average speed equal to 1200-1500 bytes / sec. Just do not confuse this rate, which is the speed of the provider, with a pumping speed of your pages, it can be much less because the information has reached your computer, passes through several computers (usually 10-15), and the rate is determined by the narrowest link in the chain.
