Why Do You Need to Use PNG Images in Your Web Design?
The pros of including PNG images in web designing over other image formats like GIF and JPEG; the file format can be used to make really amazing and spectacular images that will prove alluring to your visitorsThe PNG image format was introduced quite a while back; it was put forth for consumers in 1995/96 to make up for the shortcomings of the popular GIF file format. However, it did not catch on because the the browsers of the time were unable to support the progressive features of PNG so website designers and developers were compelled to use it restrictedly. One of the main hindrances standing in the way was Microsoft Internet Explorer which was one of the most popular browsers of the time; IE had limited place for PNG support which meant that the format could only be made use of to a bare minimum. Even if, this issue has been resolved in GIF and you can save the images without losing any data, GIF only allows for a limited 256 color palette, which makes it quite ineffective if you want to save a photograph. Gamma setting is a method that helps to distribute the brightness across the display surface. However, different operating systems use varying Gamma settings. Hence, a picture that is color corrected for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Here again, in this case the flexible PNG picture format comes to the rescue, in PNG, you can save the files with with a Gamma correction feature that is innate so regardless of the operating system; the Gamma settings will be changed on its own to display a picture with the amazing contrast and brightness.
