Why Is it In Your Best Interest To Use PNG Images in Your Website Creation?
The benefits of using PNG images in web designing over other image formats such as GIF and JPEG; the image format helps to make good and wonderful icons that will wow your customersThe PNG file type was introduced a few years back; it was brought out in the market around 95/96 to meet the deficiencies of the the common GIF file format. However, it did not make an impression because the early browsers were not designed to support the state of the art features of PNG so web designers and makers were forced to incorporate it sparingly. One of the main hindrances faced by the format was Microsoft's Internet Explorer which was the most well known and widely used browsers of that period; IE had little or no place for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be incorporated to a bare minimum. But, the scene metamorphosed when IE7 was brought out; this new browser from Microsoft has aided in increasing the popularity of PNGs. So here is why at three reasons why PNG is is often regarded as the best image formats around today:
It is possible to create transparent images or a property known as alpha transparency: When you compare PNG with GIF, you will see that one of the major differences is that you will only be able to save a particular color as transparent in GIF this simply means that you can get the color regardless of it being opaque or transparent with just transparency in between; however, with PNG, you get a serious benefit; because the format can be used to produce semi transparency. This feature gives you the ability to save a PNG image with a soft drop shadow and then use it against a background of your choice. The Image can also be used as a gradient background or water mark. The format gives you the option to use the smooth fading of shades from completely opaque to absolutely transparent, so that you can see the webpage underneath
They look fantastic: Apart from the fact, that you get amazing flexibility wit PNG images; there are a myriad of other benefits to including this format. For instance, if you make use of the JPG Format, you lose a part of the data from the initial image whenever you save the file, so in time, you will notice a conspicuous decline in the appearance of the media. Even if, this issue has now been sorted in GIF and you can store the files without compromising any information, GIF has a limited color palette of 256, which imparts it quite ineffective if you have to store a snap shot. But, when you use PNG, you will get the perfect benefits of both these formats; you will have access to an extensive color display like with JPEG images and it also provides managed color palette as seen in GIF files. PNG allows for self optimization: One of the hurdles that web designers have to tackle frequently is the fact that the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be changed to see the images correctly; the issue comes into the picture due to the difference in the Gamma setting used for the different monitors. Gamma is a technology that helps to scatter the the light across the monitor display. However, diverse operating systems use varying Gamma settings. Hence, an image that is color corrected specifically for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Again, in this scenario the flexible PNG picture format can prove useful, in PNG, you can save the images with a built in Gamma correction so despite the differences in operating systems; the Gamma settings will be changed on its own to show a picture with the amazing contrast and brightness.
