Droid : Icons Have Come A Long Way
The Droid and the icons it has onboard reflect the new smartphone technology. The Droid icons are smooth, straightforward to identitfy and have a tendency to convey what they mean in a comparatively nice show that allows for ease in comprehensionIt used to be, you had 3 to 5 icons on your cell phone to tell you everything that is occuring with your cellular world. Nowadays there is plenitude of icons, and at the forefront are the iPhone and the Verizon Droid.
Now you can see not only voicemail as an icon, but if you missed a call, if there is a call on hold, new voicemail or new email message. You will know if there's a problem with your SMS or MMS delivery, if there is new instant message, if data is syncing or if a song is playing on your phone. The Droid and the icons it has onboard reflect the new smartphone technology.
If the ringer is off in silent mode or if the speakerphone is on - there is a separate icon for it. You can tell if there is a call on hold, if the call is forwarded or if there us a calling progress. It will also tell you if GPS is enabled and if it is working.
The Droid icons are smooth, simple to identify and tend to convey what they mean in a comparatively nice presentation that allows for ease in understanding. The Droid wants this level of icons because it does so much. It has got an airplane mode where wireless services are instantly set to off.
All these icons are show in the standing bar on the top of the Droid. Of course, you get the common icons, but there are icons for pending Notifications and Messages. This suggests that all of the calls, SMS messages and new emails are all shown in this section. They'll be there till you look after them. This is superb for when you are away from your cell-phone.
The Droid doesn't give audio reminders, but it is doing give you lots of icons and a green blinking light that will turn on the status bar so that you can look after any pending actions that are shown by the various icon notices. All you need to do then is activate your Droid and touch the specific icon that corresponds to an action. You can then sort it.
For as cool as the Droid is, often it needs to be rebooted. You can tell when this is happening when the translucent wheel icon starts spinning nonstop. You will need to use the Advance Task Killer if you have it, and can use it. There are different types icons for various services and apps. Everything from apps to actions to take, Droid icons are easy to read and pretty clear cut.
