Why Is it In Your Best Interest To Use PNG File Format in Your Web Design?
The advantages of using PNG file format in website designing over other file types such as GIF and JPEG; the file format helps to make better and wonderful icons that will prove alluring to your customersThe PNG file type was introduced quite a while back; it was brought out in the market in 1995/96 to meet the deficiencies of the the common GIF file type. However, it did not make an impression because the then browsers were unable to support the progressive attributes of PNG so web designers and creators were forced to incorporate it sparingly. One of the primary hindrances that marred the features of PNG was with Microsoft's Internet Explorer which was by far the most famous browsers of the time; IE had limited place for PNG support consequently the format could only be used to a bare minimum. Then, things changed when IE7 was brought out; this latest product from Microsoft has aided in increasing the utility of PNGs. So here is why at three reasons why PNG is one of the most useful image formats in the market today:
You will be able to create images that can be superimposed due to their transparency or alpha transparency: When you compare PNG with GIF, it will become apparent that one of the major differences is that you you will be restricted to saving a specific color as transparent in GIF this simply means that the color can be used regardless of it being opaque or transparent with no other color in betweenbut when you use PNG, you get a serious feature over GIF; because the format supports semi transparent pixels. This simply means that you can save a PNG picture with a soft drop shadow and then fuse it with a background that suits your taste. The Image can also be used as a gradient background or water mark. The format lets you incorporate the slow fading of hues from entirely opaque to see through, and hence you will be able to view the webpage that lies in the background
They look fantastic: It is a well known fact that PNG images give you extreme flexibility also; there are numerous other advantages to using this format. For instance, if you choose a JPG image, you lose a part of the details on the original file whenever the file is saved, so after a while, you will be able to view a distinct decline in the quality of the pictures. Even if, this problem has been resolved in the image format and it is possible to save the files without sacrificing any details, GIF has a highly restrictive 256 color palette, which imparts it quite useless if you want to save a picture. On the other hand, with PNG, you can get the perfect benefits of the two file types; you get an extensive color display similar to JPEG format and it also provides managed color palette like GIF files. At the same time the compression of the image is sans loss so the picture stays put despite innumerable times of saving the file.
PNG is self optimizing: A serious problem that web programmers need to handle on a daily basis is the issue where the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be regulated to see the images correctly; this problem occurs due to the difference in the Gamma setting used for the different monitors. Gamma is a method used to distribute the the light across the monitor display. However, different operating systems use distinct Gamma settings. Hence, an image that is color corrected specifically for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Once again, in this case the flexible PNG image type can prove useful, in PNG, you can save the files with an inherent Gamma correction feature so despite the differences in operating systems; the Gamma settings will be realigned to show an image with the impressive ratios of contrast as well as brightness.
