How to Convert Images into Icons

How long do you think it takes to convert any picture you like into a Windows icon? A minute? Two? Three? Wrong, it takes a few seconds and no special qualification in graphics or skills in the use of special software tools such as Adobe Photoshop. All you need is just a tiny utility titled "Any to Icon", which enables converting BMP-, GIF-, JPEG-, and PNG- images into ICO files.

The software is very simple to use:

  • 1. Launch Any to Icon.
  • 2. Click Add Files to add source pictures to the list.
  • 3. Define properties of the future icons: set the size (16x16, 32x32 or 48x48 pixels) and transparency. Activate the corresponding option in order to cut the image along the edges so that it fits square shape or to choose a set of different size icons to be saved in one ICO file.
  • 4. Choose a folder to save the icons to.
  • 5. Click Next to view the desired icons.
The quality of the compression is lower than that made with the help of Photoshop, but you can disregard this little flaw. Such a tiny software supports all Windows versions. So, feel free to try!
